Chicago

Chicago is the main metropolis of America’s heartland, located on the waters of Lake Michigan, in northern Illinois.  Home to around three million people, it is a booming international business and commercial capital with diverse architecture, world-class theatre and fantastic art exhibitions.

The city’s fantastic and diverse architecture boasts soaring skyscrapers including the Sears Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world.  However, Chicago offers much more than the usual concrete jungle seen in many American cities.  It has numerous thriving ethnic neighbourhoods, a lakefront business district, the revived downtown, top-class shopping and successful sports teams. 

This modern city has an eclectic mix of cultures and religions with over 50 different languages spoken here.  The strong cultural influence is responsible for the wide variety of festivals, theatre, dance, art, and music on offer.  Chicago is known for it’s great jazz music and gritty blues joints, world-class symphony, comedy landmarks and two beloved baseball teams.

Home to world-class museums of art and science, miles of sandy beaches, huge parks and public art, as well as some of the finest modern architecture to be seen, this is a city that has it all.  Chicago gracefully and seamlessly combines extreme urbanism with tranquil green space.  The cuisine ranges from cutting-edge to casual and will satisfy all palates.

Like all big American cities, Chicago has a fantastic selection of quality shops and shopping malls.  Michigan Avenue is the most popular, upscale shopping area and draws shopping enthusiasts from all over.  A trip to Chicago isn’t complete without a trip to the world famous, Macy’s department store.
